My first encounter with Kamiel, a lovely older Maltese, was immediately a small moment of happiness.
In his familiar garden – his own quiet little world – I was allowed to capture his charm and gentle character for an hour. The sunlight was perfect, Kamiel was completely himself, and thus images were created that perfectly show who he is: a friendly old soul with a curious gaze.
What made this shoot so special was the spontaneity. Kamiel did not pose anywhere in a forced manner; he simply walked through his garden, enjoyed the light, and let me observe his daily rhythm. This resulted in genuine, warm moments that you can feel in the photos.
I am grateful that I was able to document this piece of his story. Sometimes beauty lies simply in a simple garden, with a Maltese who is content with just a bit of sun and attention.
